Job Summary The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, tuning, backup, and recovery of Oracle database environments. The role involves supporting all production and development/test systems, ensuring database performance, availability, and compliance with security and continuity requirements. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Oracle database environments, system monitoring, incident management, backup and recovery strategies, and security best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a Remote (work from home) position.
Provide maintenance and support for Oracle databases and associated applications
Ensure database system configurations are compliant with the Continuity of Operations Plan.
Manage operating systems and system-level processes for production and test environments.
Perform function process mapping and support automation of application-based workflows.
Maintain version and patch levels of enterprise applications and databases.
Monitor database health using system tools and logs; escalate and respond to alerts based on severity.
Continuously monitor the performance, availability, and security of Oracle systems.
Review dashboards, logs (e.g., /var/log/messages), and alerting systems to detect anomalies.
Identify, classify, and respond to Oracle-related system incidents (performance, downtime, or security).
Perform RCA and document incident response and resolution steps in ticketing systems.
Implement preventive measures to reduce incident recurrence.
Conduct routine database tuning and optimization (e.g., index rebuilding, performance logs).
Maintain documentation and asset inventories including licensing and patch compliance.
Perform and verify daily, weekly, and periodic Oracle database backups.
Simulate restore procedures and document RTO/RPO compliance and recovery timeframes.
Maintain rollback procedures and documentation for all production changes.
Create, manage, and remove user accounts and roles according to access policies.
Required Skills:.
Strong experience in Oracle database administration including tuning, patching, and upgrades.
Proficiency in scripting and monitoring tools for performance management.
Knowledge of backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and failover techniques.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks and federal IT regulations (HIPAA, 508, etc.).
Ability to document technical changes, incidents, and configurations thoroughly.
Effective communication skills for end-user support and team collaboration
