Role Description

Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI lab to engage

Health & Beauty experts

as independent contractors. You’ll identify high-quality skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrance products and explain—clearly and objectively—why they’re good buys for a wide range of shoppers, from luxury to everyday value. Your expertise will help build reliable, inclusive consumer guidance within AI systems. This is a short-term, project-based opportunity with full flexibility to set your own hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate beauty products using ingredient lists, formulation quality, shade/undertone fit, and hair type/texture suitability.
  • Write concise, objective recommendations with links, specs, pros/cons, and clear “who this is for.”
  • Compare options across price tiers and retailers; highlight value picks and premium standouts.
  • Assess inclusivity across tones, textures, and sensitivities; avoid medical/therapeutic claims and note safety considerations.
  • Produce structured comparisons and brief buyer’s guides that reflect real-world use cases.
  • Review and refine AI-suggested product picks; correct, annotate, and add missing context where needed.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on background: retail experience (e.g., Sephora/Ulta), salon/MUA/esthetician work, beauty editorial, or a serious enthusiast track record.
  • Proven ability to evaluate products objectively and write clear, concise recommendations.
  • Comfortable cross-shopping across retailers and price tiers; fluent with linking, specs, and balanced pros/cons.
  • Inclusive mindset with sound judgment around claims and safety (no medical/therapeutic claims).
  • Nice to have: state license (esthetician/cosmetologist), fragrance taxonomy knowledge, textured-hair expertise.

Requirements

  • Remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule.
  • Flexible weekly commitment; project flow may vary.
  • Short-term and project-based, with potential for ongoing work.
  • You control your methods and schedule; Mercor support team available for inquiries.

Compensation & Contract Terms

  • $40–$70/hour (USD), depending on demonstrated expertise and depth of work.
  • Payments for services rendered issued weekly via Stripe Connect.
  • Independent contractor classification; set your own hours.
  • Scope and rates may vary by project.

Application Process

  • Submit your resume to get started.
  • Complete a short 20-minute AI interview.
  • Optional: one-question form to highlight your expertise (especially useful for serious enthusiasts without direct professional experience).
  • Mercor will follow up with next steps based on project availability.
