A copywriter has demonstrated their understanding of strategic marketing/advertising campaigns through a few years of agency experience. They’re responsible for collaborating with senior writers to generate strategic ideas, exciting concepts, and stand-alone copy for a wide range of channels, including digital, social, print, video and direct mail.
The role requires a sense of curiosity and a passion for the industry, as both drive professional improvement. Across all projects, copywriters will manage projects with some senior oversight, making sure that every asset is on brand and executed properly.
Responsibilities:
Balancing some big-picture thinking with maintaining attention to detail
Being accountable for workload and scheduling- delivering work on time or making necessary arrangements in a sufficient amount of time
Evaluating copy and concepts through the lens of your brand(s), often writing outside of your personal style to reflect the brand voice
Understanding not only your client’s brand, but also the competition
Beginning to understand product positioning and repositioning exercises
Building off of a brainstorming session with thematic names, lines, appropriate builds and strategic thoughts
Contributing to the creation of white paper write-ups with effective and compelling copy
Presenting work to internal teams and clients, working with your creative director to refine and deliver breakthrough ideas
Beginning to handle the championing of ideas within the agency
Qualifications:
A strong portfolio with a range of writing samples pulled from a breadth of platforms/channels, including campaigned concepts
A Bachelor’s degree in communications, creative writing or journalism (or similar discipline) and/or 2+ years relevant work experience
Mastery of Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Chat, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.
A curiosity and willingness to research client brands and the market ecosystem surrounding them
The ability to manage multiple, fast-turn projects and deliver on-time copy while maintaining an attention to detail
The ability to absorb and apply constructive feedback, including incorporating creative builds from internal teams into existing concepts and assets
